Would like to paint wine glass and grapes with watercolor, any tips?

I have been painting with watercolors for a few years now, still learning, I have problems with shading, shadows and such, have drawn two wine glasses, wine bottle and a platter of grapes. Anxious to get started but same time leary of ruining it. Any comments??

Can gouache paint be used like watercolor?

I’m taking a color theory class, and we are using gouache paint for our projects. I’m thinking about making a landscape. When painting with watercolors, I remember damping the paper with water and adding blue while it was still wet to make a sky. Can you do this same technique with gouache paint?

Can I use white acrylic paint as a masking fluid in a painting?

I just started painting with watercolors. I have trouble doing a smooth wash background around complex shapes and I don’t want to shell out for a bottle of masking fluid. If I used white/transparent acrylic paint as a masking fluid, would it peel off easily and cleanly so I could finish painting underneath? Thanks!
